Week 15: Everyone wants to feel important.
You gain power by giving power.
iMprovement Diaries
The fastest way to become better than you competition is by letting them take the lead.
Taking inspiration from Robert Greene,
Never outperform the master.
The art of making people feel important has created billionaires and some of the most powerful and influential people throughout history. To make this happen, some sacrifices need to be made. Mainly your ego.
You can never make someone feel more important that you without humbling yourself. Your ego must go. It’s all about making yourself seem smaller that you are and someone else bigger than they truly are.
Channel the power dynamics
In the last Diary entry, I spoke about leading from the shadows. This entry works hand in hand with it.
Giving power to someone will make your voice and opinions louder to them than of anyone around. Why? Because human nature wants us to be safe and happy, which means naturally, we will be drawn to people that make us feel good.
If you want to have less eyes on you, then you need to give power to whoever seeks it most. And if you are the type of person that can be heavily affected by people’s opinions then letting someone else take the front seat is your best move. Work in the shadows.
Things to avoid:
Avoid main character syndrome.
Overcome the urge to be the main character in any story.
Ø Publicising your goals prematurely
Ø Letting the world know your personal life
Ø Being the loudest in the room
“The loudest in the room is the weakest in the room.”
- Denzel Washington
Thank you for reading the diary.
Much appreciated.
See you in the next one.
