Week 10: Listen well

In order to make your words more effective, listen a lot more than you speak.

What tends to happen is that we say we want to hear the other person’s opinion and (in some regard) want their advice. But the reality of it is that we just want someone to listen to us. We want to feel valued, and listening is the most budget friendly option.

Speak 30% of the time Listen 70%

You can’t do both at the same time and too much of the other does yield the best results. 

Benefits of 30/70

1. You give a response/advice that the other person can actually use.

2. People will put greater value on the things you say.

(Limited access creates perceived value which tends to be high)

3. They will share more without you asking.

Progress report:

In the last entry I said I will stop putting effort into growing my instagram in order to limit the chances of fatigue. Was the best decision i have made thus far regarding growing my audience.

Although there hasn’t been new followers on X, the engagement seems to have improved. As well as the quality of my work.
